Big 3 question

Well i recently did the big 3 like 2 weeks ago, and the day i installed my system i noticed that the battery was totally dry.... we had to jump the car twice in the same day. The battery is quite new so i was wondering if maybe the Wire between the + battery terminal and alternator was somehow leaking power... i could be totally off but i dont know what else could have causeed it.

here is a pic

The original wireing from the battery to the alternator goes throught the engine utilities and then to the alt, i left the stock wiring and added a lead right off of the positive terminal right to the alt.

Is it the battery?

Or maybe something else electrical in the car?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

First, why is there no fuse between the battery and the alternator? If the alternator packs it in and dead shorts (which happens more often in vehicles with large stereo systems), you are left with a battery draining into that dead short and the nice vehicle fire that follows. Get the line fused. Next see if the thing is charging or not. Meter the battery at rest for voltage, now start the vehicle and test again for voltage. If you are getting 12 volts or so at rest and 14 or so at run or at 1200 rpm, then the alternator is charging. If this is the case, then it is either a bad battery (which I suspect as well) or you have a constant draw on the battery that is draining it.
