i have a s10, im was thinkin about doin the big three. my + off of my battery goes under the battery tray and goes to one side of like a fuse holder, the fuse is rated at 175 amps. off of the same post of that fuse holder the wire goes to my alternator. is it necessary to run the wire, or can i run it to the alt without goin to that post on the one side of that fuse holder?? thanks!!

just run a straight wire from your alt to your batt with a fuse in-line.

Personnaly I would replace the stock run lines with a 0 gauge and call it a day. That way if you ever have to trouble shoot then there isnt a "mess" of wires there.

As for just running one strait from the alternator to the battery just do not unhook the wire runing under your battery tray. So that way you would have:

1. Wire strait from alternator to battery

2. Original wiring configuration

As for fuse size depends on your alternator. If you have a HO then you owudl want to go alittle higher then the rating on it. If you have stock alternator same rule applies. If you plan on going to a HO alternator however buy a big fuse. I would say 200 or more amp fuse

I edited my post with the fuse info //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also I should add that if you do not fuse both wires coming from the battery then ther eis no point in doing just 1 since there is a power loop there.

Personnaly I would not use a fuse. It is a "safe" thing to do but Stock never had one :p

SEARCH!!!! there are many extremely detailed threads that are stickied at nearly every forum on the web w/ pics. These will answer all your questions and set you on the right path //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't mean to hijack your thread but I have a quick question about my s10 as well. My factory ground has 3 ground wires (engine, frame, chassis). I upgraded my battery - to engine block with 4ga. My question is should I upgrade my battery - to chassis or frame? or both? If I upgrade both of them I will have 6 grounds coming from my battery. Thanks
