Big-3 Question Rebuff

Okay, so I have a '98 Mustang Coupe. I posted pictures, and had a thread earlier.

But, I have a new question. People've told me I don't have a negative from my alt to bat.

So, I followed the wire coming from the boot of the alt and I realized it is attached to the fuse box, and there's the positive to bat connected with it.

I'd replace/add-onto both, right?

Also, the negative from the batt; I followed it all the way down, and it seemed to attach to some boot on my engine block. I couldn't see it, or get a good feel of it. [A mix between poor design on Ford's part and poor genetics. I'm small, but that also means I have small arms. The pros is that I can get under my car with out a jack //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif]

Anyway, I thought it odd. My question is could I add a new negative to my chassis/engine block from my batt?

Another question, chassis-to-block wire. I couldn't find the one on my car, assumably it's in the back of the engine bay [which is impossible to get to short of taking out the engine, which obviously isn't worth it (yet)]

My question is, could I add a new chassis/block wire by taking off an "unnecessary bolt" from the block, adding wire, and putting it to the chassis?

Thanks for any answer to my seemlessly endless ignorance. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Go straight to your alternator (boot) from the positive battery (fuse the wire)

Go from your negative battery to the frame

Go from your engine block (or alternator case) to the same spot on the block

Just "add" these wires and don't remove any stock ones

Same spot as the neg from batt?

Yes. where the negative from the batt. touches the block.
Alright, to clarify this one more time because people keep using 'block', so I'm thinking the engine block.

Is it a negative from the battery to the chassis, or a negative from the battery to the engine block?

negative from the battery to the frame...and from the block to the frame...2 seperate wires grounding to the same place.

You can also go from one of your alternator mounting bolts (preferably the one that bolts it to the block) if you're having trouble finding a bolt on the block itself.

I used an existing bolt on my "frame" (not just a thing little metal panel)....I grinded away all the paint & grime, made the ring terminal hole a little bigger, put a little grease on the ring terminals and the spot on the frame (to avoid corrosion) and tightened the bolt back down.

Alright, I know what you're talking about. Thanks a lot. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
