big 3 problems

um, take the fuc king boot off?
can i do that?.....isnt it there for a reason?

and i dont know what to use to sand down the terminal...i dont have a dremel.....and this is pretty thick metal...for a 220 amp alt would it be ennough to use 4 guage wire and still get the full potential from my orion 2500d?.....or do i need the 1/0?

the metal on the alternator, and the ring terminal since they will carry the same current when you're done

or dont cover it, nothing goes down there that could arc, i didn't cover mine, i've torn all my boots off, those things are ugly and dont matter.

make sure you fuse the + part of the big three with something the same amperage of the alternator.

please clarify that part....i was just putting a wire from the positive terminal on the alt to the same terminal its goin to now on the batt

yep, and it's going to be carring current.

lets say your alternator is ****ed up all of a sudden and starts putting out 500 amps.. you could fry your battery.. maybe more and blow all your fuses or just put a fuse inline there the amperage of the alternator.. so if something goes wrong, you're okay, adn you're car is okay.. better safe than sorry for the 12 bucks it costs.
