your alternator has a pully on it. the pully is spun by the belt. you can ground off the end of an alt bolt without removing the alt, or if you remove the alt like i did you can ground between the alt bracket and the block, but to remove the alt you need to take off the belt and put it back on, which is done with the tensioner pulley

 
Why did you remove you alternator to ground? wouldn't it of been easier to ground off the bolt that you mentioned? and where is the stock wireing grounded to? I thought I could use all stock locations for the connections?
