I own a 2002 Chrysler Sebring with a stock 120 amp alternator. For those of you own a Sebring/Status, how hard was it to do the Big 3?
At least you don't have to break out the tire iron for a Magnum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifOMG you have a job on your hands buddy. LMAO i was just talking about how hard the BIG3 is for those!!! its even worse on the new Dodge Magnums and some 300's
That sounds like it was really difficult. Is everything you did necessary to do the big 3? Also, how many watts could you pull on the stock Alt?![]()
my car doesnt have fog lights but the holes are still there, i went in through those with a dremel and cut the back of the battery try out, the base of its still there though because the battery was an inch or two too deep. i had to get rid of that little bar that held the battery down, i reused two bolting holes and used a peice of chain wrapped in a heater hose, just put the bolt through each link. only thing i had any trouble with was finding a spot to go back down the engine bay to where i went through the firewall. My wires go up (near the fuse block/computer) for easy access to my fuse blocks, but then i couldnt find a good spot to come back down for my runs to go through the firewall. probably the only part of my install i dont like
well modifying the battery tray wasnt bad, and well worth it to fit a kinetik in there. the stock battery has the terminals ontop, not sure how hard it would be to add wires to that. the battery to chassis ground was pretty easy. alt to battery was also easy, hardest part finding a spot for the fuse holder. I had to cut the stock power wires (but kept them and just added), both 6 gauge i believe, and sqeezed them both into one 1/0 ring terminal. the alt to chassis ground might be a little hard. you could just pull one bolt and ground to the outside of the alt between the alt and the head of that bolt, but i took my whole alt off and put the ring terminal between the alt bracket and the block, then had to drill a location to ground to, not too bad. serpentine belt was probably the worst, like the battery except you have to take off the passengers side tire and all the inner fender plastic peices. and the tensioner pully inst spring loaded you have to get a 1/2 inch wrench on it and manually tighten it. the stock alt held up for me for a long time. I took forever to get around to installing my iraggi, for awhile i ran a kinetik 1400 under the hood and a kinetik 2400 in the trunk off the stock alt. running a memphis mojo and autotek 75x4 for the highs. never had any problems. That sounds like it was really difficult. Whats this serpentine belt? Is that part of the Big 3 Process? Also, did you have the big 3 done before you installed your amps? or did you do that after?serpentine belt was probably the worst, like the battery except you have to take off the passengers side tire and all the inner fender plastic peices. and the tensioner pully inst spring loaded you have to get a 1/2 inch wrench on it and manually tighten it.
the serpentine belt is the belt that you see that snakes through all the pulleys on your engine.Whats this serpentine belt? Is that part of the Big 3 Process? Also, did you have the big 3 done before you installed your amps? or did you do that after?
