Ok, I need help doing the Big 3 on my 01 Ford Escort ZX2, the alternator is kinda low on the car and the wires are a "clip on" style...i can get pics if needed, or if anyone has done it on theirs, lemme know how i can hook up the power wire to the alt (i've done the big 3 before on other cars...this one is just different)

there's gonna be 4 wires or some ish on a plug, but theres always a larger wire that looks like a spark plug type boot on the backside of the alternator, thats the wire you wanna upgrade, don't touch anything on that clip of wires, thats connected to the regulator that tells the alternator when to put out a charge(as your alternator isn't constantly putting out a charge, and does require the battery to create power)

I've seen this before.

Was on a T-Bird I think. Something Ford decided to do for an unknown reason. You're pretty much SOL I believe. Upgrade your other wires (grounds and main power) and perhaps get a battery that is more resistant to quick currant draws.

Other than that, just do some searching for Escort alts and see what people found out on them (try google).

well um, the only advice i can give to you, is um, stop being lazy and take the alternator off to get to the wire you need to upgrade, otherwise, just upgrade the alt.

Maybe some of us dont have the time for that...on my car you have to remove most of the cooling system and drain the radiator, as well as remove the AC compressor and remove the alternator from under the car. Some of us arent fortunate as to just unbolt it from the top //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i'm not even in college and i can't afford to drive, so don't feel bad, i work a "full time job" if you wanna call it that, basically i'm laid off without them telling me for a couple of days a week, got a $400 a month payment including insurance on my truck, and i'm sweatin to make that and my rent off of measely hours a month, all i'd seriously need is 80 hours a month to survive, and i'm barely getting that....

well if it weren't for all the competition in the area, i'd be looking at making around 1400 bux a month on full time, just straight 40 hour weeks, but as stated before, i've already made more money this year so far, then a person on full time hours at 12.48 bux an hour would've made.....when i work them hours, i work em //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

whenever work picks back up, i'll throw a couple grand in the bank, then start doin stuff to my truck again, happened last winter like that too, bought the truck in september, and before new years came, i had the 2 12" subs/amp i have in there now in it, mp3 in dash, and a larger awg wiring kit already on the way, aside from the 2 awg kit that was already in there....
