Big 3 made things worse

yep its probably your alt. is going bad, that happened to my first car, the car use to cut off while i was driving full speed, steering wheel use to lock up, and thats when things become dangerous, it was 93 buick le sabre, so go get your alt check and if it is the alt. just spend and extra few bucks and get an HO one, if not its probably a bad connection

So why didn't my car stumble before the Big 3?
you had voltage drop before and you thought that was the real issue but your real issue was actually a bad alt. now you have done a big three that has lowered the resistance in your electrical, it probably has fully exposed your faulty alt. it's like when you sneeze and have a runny nose. you think it's just dust in the air but you have swine flu.

I think you will find your problem is the splice in your alternator wire. Don't do that! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Put a new ring terminal on your new wire and reattach.

Your acc numbers are too low.

just try swapping in a battery that you know is good and charged, if it clicks before it starts with a fully charged battery its a bad connection.

I don't see how the spliced wire can cause that. I mean I have the factory(spliced) wire and the 1/0 gauge wire going from the battery to the alternator.

Ill add a ring terminal when I get the alternator checked this weekend.

Did the Big 3 on my Camaro. I used 0 gauge monster wire. I did it because I get voltage drops. After the Big 3 I still get voltage drops and my car feels like its going to shut off when I come to a stop/light. Also' date=' when I go to turn on my car it just clicks. It turns on after 4-5 clicks.
What could cause this?

I did however cut the original alternator wire to remove the bolt to add the 0 gauge wire.I spliced it and twisted/taped it back together. I don't think that's the problem but just mentioning it just in case.

Another problem. Connected an AP1500D amp and two RE SE 10 subs and my car almost shut off, again. This is annoying. I have a new amp/sub/box and I can't even use them because I don't want my car shutting off on me. What's weird is that when the car is stumbling the voltage gauge doesn't drop below 13 volts.

Battery is an Optima Red Top

Used my MM:

At idle my battery read 14.09

Car off battery read 12.89

Key on the On/ACC position 12.46

Didn't get to measure with the system on, was running late for work.

Sorry for the long post, just mad that I can't use my new system.Let me know what you guys think.[/quote']

Did the stock alt wire run to a distro block that went to the fuse block and the battery?

something doest seem right. you do the big 3 and all of a sudden you car acts up? and random people try to say to replace your alternator and that it some how decides to fail right when you do the big 3! lmfao at this forum.

some advice. some say to leave all existing wires and then add your own, or just replace all existing wires for the big 3 altogether. however go with either or. make sure all connections are solid and any rust or paint is removed where applicable.
