on the big three, when fusing the charge wire, should i fuse it at the same rating as my alt?

i did, most will say fuse for the wire, BUT the run is so short the capable amperage that could go through there is higher.

Fuse for the wire unless you 100% know what you're doing. Since you're asking the question, you should probably just fuse for the wire.
