This thread blows my mind. I always assumed I had to go under the car to ground the engine. Looks like tomorrow will be a project day.

Why would you think that? An engine is an engine, no matter where on the engine it is. See what I'm saying?

With that being said, I grounded straight to the alt bracket.

Yes, all this engine block crap could be skipped if you just ground straight to the alternator mounting bracket...easier IMO

I dont have an alt bracket just the bolt that holds it that connects to the engine block....gm 6.0

When I did mine I just followed the grounds that were already in place. There was already a ground for the engine, which was actually mounted on the transmission, 1/0 awg to that one, then I followed the wire to the chassis ground which IMO was a crappy spot for it. So I just relocated my chassis ground to one of the bolts on the strut tower. Make sure you scuff the paint off of your grounding point for best results. My factory Wiring was 8awg wire, taking my time and using my head made a huge difference in voltage drop and is worth doing 100% of the time.
