Beware AQ HDC3 Issues ??

i dont' know, all i know is he ran the pair off a saz3000d @ 1 ohm..
could be they weren't broke in or he just cranked a 20hz tone on em, who know's... But all i'm saying is its clearly a weak point of the sub.

I'm waiting on fi to get back at me to recone em to 15's.
Why make it a frankenwoofer?

what are you planning on doing with yours?
I'm waiting on aq to get back to me on recones as well, but i'm kinda scared to go with them right now. Maybe see if dd will do up some recones for them?
I heard that DD dealers cant even get recones now u have to send the motors and such into DD to get it reconed now.

I am prolly just going to get some recones through AQ.

The 3 spider cutting failures that I am aware of can be traced to over excursion at very high power levels in large boxes or from playing well below tuning at more then rated power levels. It is a little difficult to trace some of the root cause because in a couple of cases the subs were used by someone else before being acquired by the person having the failure and the past use cannot be determined.

I don't like failures of any kind even when the sub is pushed far beyond its ratings but it is impossible to prevent every possible failure even though we overbuild our subs in every possible way we can. The number of failures, 3 or 4, is minute in regard to numbers in service and all of those can be traced to improper use.

Never the less I am concerned about ANY failure mode under ANY circumstance even when the sub is pushed well beyond its rated performance levels. The HDC3 has a much stronger motor, suspension, cone and is capable of more excursion then the original HD3 sub; that's why it is louder then the HD3. It also has a better cooling system. It has a better durability record then the HD3 regardless of what Alex or some others think of the Chinese.

We are, howerver, addressing the issue and are now adding an additional procedure to the sub during final assembly at our build facility in Oklahoma City. We can't prevent every failure or protect every enduser from themselves but we do listen to our customers and do everything we can to improve our products.

And that is why i will be a repeat Audioque customer:D

Its good that there are owners out there that do take the extra step to improve a product when there are complaints of no any circumstance.

I too plan on being a repeat customer of AQ

Yeah this is a really good reason I am leaning towards AQ for my bass racer later this year.

Thanks for the Post DJ.. Like i stated before it is "not" the Sub. Like DJ said any issue with the build will be addressed and corrected thats IF its in the build and not User Error.

I have nothing but praises on AQ. The C3 as well as the HD3 are monsters no doubt. I cant tell you how many threads if had seen where the AQ was compaired to the 95's,BTL's,MT's,DC's Etc. There must have been a reason for it. All and all I never had any problem what so ever with mine.

This whole thread is crazy.. Just crazy..

I heard that DD dealers cant even get recones now u have to send the motors and such into DD to get it reconed now.
thats pretty lame.. Especially for competitors...
