Better to use HP/LP filters on HU or amp?

I've always wondered which is better, using the HP/LP filters on the head unit or amp. I am guessing it is better to filter the signal at the source (HU) and run pass-through mode on the amp.

Just wondered others thoughts.

it really depends

some use hu for easy access

some use amps so if battery is disconnected they won't lose hu settings(dumb idea to me)

some use both to stack xovers cause their hu's doesn't have enough slopes

some don't use the amps cause the markings are not exact

some use well you get the picture.

I use my headunit because its filters are much better than on my amps and my headunit does all the other processing so the amps should just amplify the signal, not modify it. I run all my amps full range to all speakers and I filter the signal before it gets there.
