better sq?

ok bishes, right now, i record songs from myspace onto my minidisc recorder. from there, i use audiograbber to pull them off and store them as mp3 (256kbps). is there a better program i can use than audiograbber?
what format are they in when pulled of myspace?

not really sure how that helped.the experts hang out here. http://www.afterdawn.com

ahh. someone in america actually has one on their home stereo system. it still uses the same formats as any kind of music storage device. i use mp3's on mine. but when you record to it in real time, anyone who is old enough to have used tapes knows what i mean, it records in wave format. that is a very large file and needs to be compressed to be more efficient for the real world. unless i misunderstood what you are doing. you are pressing record and letting music play off my space to the recorder, right?

sir, this is exactly what i'm doing. the music from myspace and on the recorder sounds great!! it's just when i play it/store it onto audiograbber, it sounds "tinny" . sometimes the treble is too high, sometimes the midrange.

that sounds like the process of converting the wave files to mp3 is not good. try a different conversion program. i use db poweramp. there are many out there. even itunes works pretty well. sounds almost "computerized" huh?

naw, it doesn't sound computerzed. just kinda high, like the words/vocals are straining. windows media player and netscape radio as well as AOL radio sounds computerized.

audiograbber? are you doing the same process to record to the pc as you do to the minidisc?
sorta..........

i plug the RCA's from the line out on the minidisc to the line in on my laptop. then on auiograbber, i click 'file', 'line in sampling' and begin recording. on the settings, i have 'constant bitrate set to 256kbps', quality is set to 'dual stereo' and voice is set on 'high'. i used to have the voice set to 'normal' but 'high' makes the vocals sound better.

this is kind of a problem with minidisc. if you direct download to md using software, you can do the same in reverse ( md to pc). in that case, it would work just like an ipod, "downloading" instead of "recording". you are recording, therefore the pc cannot directly upload and has to record like old school tapes. i used to do this with mine off of sirius sattelite on my tv. to put music from my minidisc to my computer i used a program called "messer". it is freeware and worked pretty well. the biggest problem i had was with the volume settings, but once i set them right, it was very good. record a few short clips with it and get the settings right and it will do very nice.

what a shame that minidisc didn't catch on better here. i love them.
