Hello all,

I have a pioneer 1300mp and I want to install a Kenwood kdc-mp345u that i wil be purchasing from bestbuy bc i have a gift card. They said they could install it for me but is this something I could do myself? Should I get a wiring harness from walmart or somewhere or should I be good just splicing it in to the pioneer one that is in the car already?

if they will do it for free let them...just remove anything of value from your ride and don't be suprised if you find a new cigarette burn or two in your interior...if they charge for it...do it yourself...its not that bad changing out an existing aftermarket deck

if you have an aftermarket deck already it should be simple, what car do you have? You have aftermarket already so there is a harness adapter. there is a harness adapter for the car and for the pioneer and for the kenwood. the pioneer will be connected to the cars adapter. the colors will match up ie yellow red black green purple white grey. separate them and then match them back up with the kenwood. the hardest part for you will probably be taking the dash apart but once youve done it before its easy, usually just a couple screws and some trim to pop off.

if your lucky the pioneer was installed using the can...in case just pop the trim ring and insert a set of radio keys and slide that puppy right out of the dash.....unplug the harness from the pioneer...antenna and RCAs if used...then remove the can and install the new Kenwood can...they are mounted with little push tabs ....bent to fit the dash opening.....then take the kenwood harness and color match the wires as nate said...after all connections are made...plug in the harness antenna lead and RCA's if they are used to the Kenwood...and slide her back in the dash....should take less than 15 minutes...take pics along the way and do a build log....
