Best way to run sub......

I am kind of new to the car audio stuff so I need a little help. I have a Rockford Fosgate P3 its a D212 which is a 2ohm 12", its hooked up to a SSL 1500 mono block amp. My question is what is the best way to run this sub to the amp? Series? Parallel? Right now it is running in series but I want the sub to push as hard as it can with out blowing the sub.

Run it series/parallel to get a 2 ohm load. Then set gains to 44.72v for 1000w. See option 2:

Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams, Two 2 ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) Speakers

Run it in series for a 4ohm load and set amp gains to 44.72v with a DMM for 500watts. *EDIT*

With those VC you are limited to 4 ohm or 1 ohm load. The amp is not 1 ohm stable leaving you with the 4ohm option! Hope that helps!

Those formulas you're telling him to use are wrong in so many ways, don't spread that garbage to beginners or anyone else for that matter.

ok then smartass. go ahead and spread some of your revealing car audio knowledge so us noobs know how to properly calculate AC voltage.

ok so what should i set all of these knobs at because im still not getting the sound that i had with my kicker 250.2 amp and i have a 1500w mono block now. im not sure how to set the gain so maybe this picture could help, but thanks for the help so far.

Turn the bass boost off on the amp, set your HU bass to 0. Turn the volume to 75% on the HU, turn the gain up till you hear distortion then back it off some. If you have to go over 75% on the gain you need to rethink your electrical

or get a headunit with better preouts lol.

OP, find a 50Hz -0dB test tone online and play that through your headunit at 75% volume. if you have a dmm turn it up to what we said the AC voltage should be. if not, turn it up until you hear distortion and use common sense. if after playing music for like 10 minutes at full tilt you start smelling your subs you should turn it down a little.

would the gain be the level or the low pass and if the gain is the level then what do i set the low pass to
gain is your level. lowpass means it will cut off everything higher than the frequency you set it to. most people set it to 80Hz but you can play around with it as you please.

do you have a multimeter?
