Best Way to power 5400 watts.

just remember the more watts isnt always louder get a reputable sub and amp with some good fronts and call it a day and maybe, just maybe save some cash

you have a 5.3... that guy listing that shit doesnt know much it seems. you need a 99up alt.
So the one he is selling wont work correctly? and also can someone recommend a battery that would be good to replace the stock one and put one in the rear.

i cant tell ya that exaclty i need a pic of the actual one he is selling...that could be just a generic pic.

Alright im looking at getting this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8069703627&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AITfor ho alt but what if i replaced stock battery and then put one battery in rear with 6 farard cap would that work and how do i know how many watts a battery can power?
First off.. don't buy that or any other alts from ebay. The two companies that sell alternators on there regularly are Alterstart and Motor City Reman. Both companies do NOT sell High output alternators. They sell remanufactured stock alts. Both companies also have the worst track record as far as alts staying alive more than three months.

Secondly. You do NOT need a capacitor. Get a good HO alt from Mean Green, Ohio Gen, Iraggi or Excessive amperage and get a good strong battery under the hood and a largish one (Kinetic HC2400 - http://www.kinetikpower.com/hc2400.asp) for the rear.

Thirdly, Don't listen to this man. He knows close to nothing about electrical buffering. If you were going to get a capacitor based on wattage a 6 farad would be fine. Rule of thumb (anyone who knows anything about car audio would tell you to ignore capacitors) is one farad per 1000w.

You'd need around 50-100 farads with a nice electrical system. 6 farads is dumb for 5400 watts dude.

That's a whole lot of power.

Are you gonna be running it off batteries to compete, or off the alternator for a daily?

That's gonna take a sick electrical setup, should be nuts, tho.

And since you've got that nice big engine, you should be able to get a much larger alternator than 200A if you talk to the right people. Cheaper and better are usually two different things, i've learned over the years there's no shortcuts in car audio. 3000W doesn't necessarily = 3000W, and 200A at 6500rpms @ 13.8v is compeltely different from 200A @ 14.4v at idle.

It sucks, but there's almost always a reason why two pieces of equipment that seem similarly equipped can be priced soooo differently.

$200 200A alternators on ebay vs. $400 200A alternators from a reputable company. And My $350 hifonics bxi2006d's 2000w, isn't the same thing as a $1000+ orion amplifier.

Thanks johnecon2001 for the reply it helped out alot, i think ill get that battery for rear but on that site it says i need 2 of them to power everything..thanks for everyones replies.

anyone reccomend battery for under the hood.

Like people were saying earlier. MA overrates their amps. So you probably won't be pushing that many volts, hence the reason I believe one HC2400 would be fine. Just get a replacement for your stock battery (same size). Maybe a Optima RT or an Odyssy.

Make sure you look into at least a 200A alternator as well. I would actually go higher than that.
