best way to flare 8 inch pvc????

ive heard a lot of other methods on how to do smaller pipes, but its not gonna work too well on 8 inch. im curious to see if anyone has a good idea on how to flare these? ive got some ideas, just havent tried them yet, and i dont have time to make a wooden jig. that is out of the question. if someone has a jig, i will trade for it or possibly buy. i have 3ish feet of 12 inch pvc thick wall( , and i can get more), 5 ish feet of 8 inch, med wall, several feet of 4 inch thin and med wall, 3 ish feet of 6 inch pvc med wall, and a few feet left of 15 inch thick wall. any help is appreciated.

Good luck with 8 inch flares. 6 inch flares are already challenging to make. With more PVC to work with, when heating the 8in it would take a while to get a good flare. All i can think of right now is find yourself a mold. Also for flaring i would suggest in staying away from thickwall PVC.

yeah, the wall isnt extremely thick. it is medium though. i wanted it to be firm enough to withstand the pressure, plus its all i have access to really. im hoping someone has a nifty idea. im going to home depot tomorrow and looking for an idea if no one gives me anything good. i dont want to give it an extreme flare. it will be internal, and the box will only be about 14.5 high, so id like to not flare it too much. i do have my torches ready, lol.

even if they are medium thick, they still won't flare well. you will need a good way of equalling the hotness around the whole surface of the 8in pvc. So with a thick wall, it's going to be pretty challenging to manage that. Which is why thinwall would be the best way.

it didnt come from home depot. and its really not that thick, but it will be a challenge. i will figure something out tomorrow. i might involve a metal dog bowl, lol.

yep no plasma heat here. im gonna go in search of the perfect metal bowl today. ill let you guys know if it works in the slightest. the hard part will be figuring out how to heat it equally around enough to make an even flare.

If its a metal bowl and can stand the heat itself, heat the bowl, not the pipe. The bowl will evenly distribute the heat for you.

lol. got a bowl, and getting ready to try. another guy gave me a great link to a guy who can make them, but i havent checked into it yet. hes got solid wood molds, and im gonna bet its not cheap to make them.

Take your bowl and attatch it to a sunflower heater- the round propane heaters called "Radiant heaters" Then turn it on and let it got hot, then crank it down to low heat. Press your pvc onto it and you are golden.

Well, if all else fails...you could make a couple of potato guns with all of that PVC. I could show you how. What if you could take a massive cresacent wrench (spelling?) and stretch it out that way. My dad has one but I don't know how big it is. Or some other type of tool.
