I got a new LOC with variable wattage controls for each RCA input but have no idea what to set them at. It's made for anywhere around 2-60 watts. It's hooked into my rear speakers then goes to my amp. The default was all the way up (60W) but that made it so the bass would be crazy high when the HU volume was low.

I have a 99 Taurus with the stock HU/door&rear speakers. Ty.

Turn the volume up to as high as you would listen, turn the knob on the LOC until theres no distortion, etc, then turn it down just a bit extra to be safe.

You can do that, but does the adjusting knob have any calibration other than 2 and 60? Also at 2 watts, it will be the loudest since it will be amplifying the signal the most to make it stronger. I would imagine a stock cd player puts out 10-15 watts.
