Best System i can get for 500$!

Well i just got a car so im short on money to get me the best sound system i can possibly get. The other thing that makes me not going out and looking because im a total newb when it comes to these kinda things. go on ebay and buy some stuff. If limited on cash I'd get a single 12" or 15" sub and go with a amp that best matches the power handling of that sub, then i'd go with a ported box tuned to whatever you want (i prefer the low 30's) and you should be able to do that with $500. now if you need a new head unit too, you might be a little worse off. but, ebay is your friend when you're looking for cheap stuff. or if you want i think i have an old 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch XLC sub laying around in my basement (or maybe even 2 of them) so you could make me an offer if you're interested. no amp for them tho...

100+170+200 = $470+ shipping expenses, probably around $525 with all that, then you need wiring, which you can go to walmart and get a $20 wiring kit, then you need harness and install kit.. basically you'll go overbudget about $100, but it'll be worth it.

Do you have a HU already or do you need that as well?

Also, a system consists of much more than a sub and amp, but if that's all you need then I would get a 15" L7 with a pricematch from sounddomain, and the amp listed earlier. Build a box and you're looking at right around $550 with wires and shipping.

total- $348 = one h*ll of a system, it will be loud and just as tight as u could ever imagine. I put this system in my g/f car and it is one of the loudest systems that i've heard, it was '99 grand am gt 4-door

Are you planning on hooking your ipod directly up to your amp? Because that is quite illadvised. You really need a HU, unless you are running your Ipod through the factory HU.
