thats what i was going to say, the Memphis PR subs are hard to beat for the price and money, and take a beating from hell, rated at 250wrms, but take 500-600wrms daily, i have a buddy that bought my two PR 12s from over 2years ago that are still going to this day with a Memphis MCD1000, which those amps are underrated at 1100wrms even, so there a very good sub, and there under $80 new with warranty!!

Hm, plenty of suggestions...I'll have to research into some of these. Like I said, this isn't for me, but the person I'm researching for isn't buying one right away.

As for some criteria, nothing specific. 10-12" preferably. It just needs to have good SQ (listening to mostly metal). Having plenty of kick and being loud without needing too much power is good too, but SQ comes first.
