I think he was saying the 3600 isn't a super SQ headunit.....and frankly, I don't disagree. Not quite on the same level as the other HU's listed.

My pioneer premier DEH-P960MP is a nice slick deck. It has a 13 band equalizer, Auto EQ, Auto Time Alignment (comes with a microphone so you can use it to adjust), and 6.5 volt preouts. So many options with this deck to fine tune your sound.

IMO....delivers the goods....without sonic compromise

The same thing that makes a ZAPCO an SQ amp- a unit that is overbuilt, and excells above the competition in every measurable attribute. One that has gone extra lenghts to deliver the most precise signal tranfer and processing -attention to detail, and non-comformance to the 'its not audible' short cuts- Understanding of cummulative error...

I typically look for multiple bit DAC's, or multiple DACs - along with high voltage/low impedance outputs-

Deffinently, all about the SQ, who really cares about the features, there cool, but not at the sacrifice of SQ!!!

I would love to get a 8053 but don't know if it's worth loosing the XM. The deh-p860mp sounds like it would be perfect for me, but I wanna see what they come out with for 2005.

If you bought an XM plug n play unit, you could just hook that up through the aux in of the 8053.

Only a sucker would pay that much for it. Highest I'd pay for one is $400, as that seems to be the going rate for them. $550 is way too much, IMHO. Probably worth every bit of that $550, but no point in spending that much on it when you can find them for cheaper.

I agree with the last post.

I've personally had the 8444 and 8053 along with every other Eclipse deck produced in the last 10 yrs.

I now have the 8445 and it is IMO the best deck Eclipse has put out to date. It ain't cheap, but they never were. I mean come on, 8 volt out, HD radio ready, SAT radio ready, mem stick function, great display, enough onboard processing to make your pants bulge........and replacement if stolen.
