Power is important. But there are a ton of amps out there that measure the same (within audible limits anyway) as these high dollar amps that continually get drooled over and produce more usable power without deviating from the needed specs that actually matter while costing significantly less. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get an amp that doesn't alter the input signal in any perceptible way. There are audible difference in amps, yes. Those differences can be quantified. If two amps do not differ by a perceptible amount in meaningful specs, you aren't going to hear a difference.
FWIW, there is nothing "SQ" about an amp that has a discernible sonic character. If some "audiophile" starts bragging about the "warm" sound of his amp, he's admitting that it's not a very good amp.
