Best Sound EQ!

the last HU I had was the panasonic cq7301 and it had a full dot matrix display and was the shiz... but I want to find a hu that does not have all that jazz... I want to put more money into the sound quality than the extra features... Anyone know of a good one... I'm hearing Alpine or CLarion.... Plus the budget it around $300 . Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

What features do you want/need this headunit to have ?

How extensive does the crossover features need to be?

How extensive of an EQ do you want?

Etc, etc etc.

alpine lacks a bit in the eq department on their mainstream hu's, but sq is second to none on them.. clarion has decent eq's... are you going to run an amp to the components or is it running off of HU power? if so, just use an external EQ, youll get much betterresults that way.
