best solution for mounting mids

Hey guys im trying to decide how to mount my mids in my doors. Right now i have them screwed INTO (ontop of) the door panel but man it vibrates the whole door like hell. I made a mdf spacer ring for backup but i its not installed, i figured mounting the speaker on the outside would look the cleanest. I have koda 6's. Just wondering if there is a way to keep the kodas ontop of the door panel or to completely avoid the idea.. I have the outer skin deadened with raamat. And should i remove the oem speaker pod on the other side of the door panel itself and then mount the mdf ring to the metal?
