best shallow mount sub

lots of variables here bro! i have an opinion on the matter but first let me point you towards the search engine, where you are going to find more opinions than what people are going to attach in your thread. With that being said, how much air space are we talking? because if you have limited airspace you probably need smaller drivers or sealed boxes, neither of which are going to get you as loud as you probably want. I know because i have a truck and i am in your same boat!

Back to my opinion without worrying about a price range (which someone is bound to ask) I think the new Digital Designs T1508 or T1510 subs can take a ton of power but really need ported boxes to reach their maximum potential. If you are talking sealed boxes, i would recommend the old school JL audio 10w6 or 8w6 both are regularly found in the classifieds and on ebay. I am actually running four 10w6's sealed right now, and i have two others laying around if you are interested! But you cannot compare JL and DD, its just not fair to JL.

If price is an issue you should look into the new sundown E8 8 inch driver. You can get them pretty cheap and they perform well in both sealed and ported boxes, and then can take a ton of power. And sundown is a great company with great resale value.

none of those are exactly shallow mount subs.

I remember reading a review on Kickers shallow mount sub either on here or the SSA forums. Search for it and see if you like what you read. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

if price isnt an issue

JL TW5

if you have a budget

Memphis S Class

Earthquake SWS

theres others out there of course. i wouldnt bother with fosgate or kicker though.

I think pioneer was one of the first companies to attempt a thin sub and everyone else followed suit, but i dont think i would touch the pioneer's either. The kicker CVT's have good reviews. If the new Stereo Integrity subs would ever come out i think those would also be worth a shot.

im telling you guys i heard the kenwood shallow and it sounded really nice! i know i know kenwood.. but that excelon shallow with the carbon fiber cone sounded good for a shallow. it was 1 12 in a small sealed box. pretty **** loud got low and sounded nice. i was really impressed.
