Best Setup Under $200

My girlfriend wants me to build a system for her car, and my budget is $200. That price includes the sub, amp and wiring (I already have box materials). What would you suggest I buy? I'm thinking about an RE 8", but I don't know how many watts they can handle, and at what Ohm load. Also, would the SPL to on par with most 10" and 12" subs in the same price range? My other choice right now would probably be a Pioneer TS-W305C 12", since I know I like those and can get one for less than $60.

i got some cheap subs on ebay ($3 a piece = 25 shipped for 2) 8" woofers

and im getting a little 100x2 amp for it.

there is a thread around here somewhere with the stuff in it

search for threads started by me and take a read thru it.

My sugguestion is go ebay junkie for your amp and wiring, the pioneer sub sounds really good for the price.

A GOOD 600 watt amp can cost you only $75 shipped (Look for American Pro amps), and will more than do the job, leaving room to expand later. Just don't buy from anyone with bad ratings. Another $25 will get you at LEAST a 4 guage wiring kit, you know better than to skimp here. You're left with $40, enough to get a halfway decent set of component speakers for inside...

EDIT2: Your computer is about the same as mine, only I underclocked mine for stability. Something you should do when you only afford a new one every 4 years.

To what degree?

basic driver config. upgrade to full out total submerssion of your motherboard

Words of advise dont go to the dark side, overclocking is not everything it is cracked up to be (wow, my computer game runs more smooth than yours) better things to do in your free time than worry wether your computer will overheat and fry.

My advice is not to, it's just another hobby/obsession like car audio or gaming. If you screw up, you can easily cause $200 in damage. And since not many of you could build a PC yourself, it's not worth it.

Personally Id be looking in the classifieds for some good used stuff. You can always run across a good deal if your not in too much of a rush to get something. Something as simple as a punch hx2, ive seen them go for about 50 shipped before. Take that with about 300 watts in a decent ported box and bam you have a decent amount of bump for next to nothing.

as i said. id love to spend $50 on an old amp that somne has laying around that they will never use. im sure there are tons of people here with this kind of stuff. maybe 200w - 100wx2

cuz i dont want to be new, it dosnt need to look pretty. but it just has to work. =p

Your computer is about the same as mine, only I underclocked mine for stability. Something you should do when you only afford a new one every 4 years.

Mine is completely stable overclocked, I've put it through stress tests lasting more than 24 hours with absolutely no problems. As long as you system is running stable there's no reason not to overclock.

as long as you got the heatsink\cooling and the right components (ram\mobo\cpu\psu) overclocking is simple and easy and fine.

just dont expect to know\get it right on the first time. =)

im oc'd a few hundred mhz, and its working perfect at ~37celcius.
