Best Setup for Small Truck

Everyone will tell you that you can't put a system in a small truck, or that you'll have to settle for a pair of 8's or a single 10. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM! Your system is only limited to your imagination, ingenuity and willingness to give up leg room //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

If I remember correctly, the older toyota single cabs have a bench seat. Ditch that thing and get yourself some buckets. Good donors are Ford Probes, Pontiac Fieros and Nissan Sentras. If you can't find any buckets at the junk yard you like, use that $500 for a pair of MOMO buckets off ebay (i saw a pair of black ones yesterday for $560 shipped!) These are necessary mods that you'll have to make to get a system in there. Once you get that done, start saving cash for a nice audio system. I won't tell you what to buy, but I'll help you figure out what it's going to cost. I'd suggest putting back at least $300 for an amp and at least another $200 for sub(s), $200 for a head unit, $60-$120 for a signal processor, $100 for sound deadening, $100 for distro blocks, fuses and wires, and $150 for new full range speakers and a small amp to help them keep up with the sub. A little more than you figured, eh? That's the way it goes with car audio, my friend. If you truly are bitten by the audio bug, you will end up replacing this stuff anyway, so you'd might as well plan on dropping it right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

When I started my system, I was just going to "buy enough stuff to make my music sound good".....one year and $2k later, I'm trying to figure out ways to break the 150dB mark //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

People are wrong to call this a hobby. It's an addiction!

My system isn't the best in the world, but its pretty loud for me. I have a Chevy S-10 regular cab and i got two 10" MTX thunder 4000's in sealed boxes. Both subs are powered by a MTX blue thunder PRO 150x2. My setup hits 135 db. Look into getting a pioneer GM-X962, 125x2 at 4 ohms. The amp is $140 on a lot of car audio sites. And get yourself a pair of Orion Cobalts. I think those are going for under a $100 a piece now.

thanks for the help all except for that biatch STANDARD! **** YOU DONT COME ALL UP IN MY SHIT AND TRY TO **** IT UP! GET THE SAND OUT OF YOUR ***** AND BY THE WAY! I OWN YOU! MY TRUCK IS ABOUT 10000 TIMES BETTER THEN ANY PEICE OF SHIT YOU DRIVE SO **** MY LEFT NUT ******! but thanks for your input ne ways!

well im glad to finally hear of someone that has the same type of truck as me....i had 2 12's in there.....easist way would be to make a nice custom fiberglass box and amp rack...depends on what your looking for tho.... and what type of subs your wanting to put in there.....i had tweeters mounted in the upper rear corners of the cab and 2 6x9's in the lower rear corners sounded pretty nice....if u mount the subs behind the passenger and driver seats and mount the amp in the middle there shouldnt be any kind of problem....good luck...if u need any more info let me know...peace

sorry...dint realize you said u had the xtra cab...i had the regular...you shouldnt have too much of a problem w/ the xtra cab....just look into getting a fiberglass box made...that'd be the best way to go....assuming you can make it yourself...might have to spend some extra if you want someone else to make it for you...peace

did you build the fiberglass boxes urself? or did you pay someone to do it? That might be an option! I was thinking of putting a JLw610 back there. I figure thats all the bass i will ever need!

Wat about BOSS amps? I dont really need a competition amp and i dont wanna spend an arm and a leg for one. I was thinking of getting a 1600W X 4 so then i could run my speakers off of it too. Ne ways thats wat i have in mind for now, ne other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

until later!

My bad, with an extended cab you can do so much more. I only have a regular cab and its kinda tight back there. Man if i had an extended cab there would be so many subs back there it would blow you're mind. Still for under $400, 2 12's and an amp would sound decent in there.

well i actually only had the small little sub boxes....didnt know how to do fiberglass back then....if i had...i wouldve had alot more room to work w/....i know how the interior is .....very difficult to work t/ in my old one....the jl w6 sounds like the way to go....i wouldnt advise the boss amp tho....probably look at jbl or somthing similar....the boss will not put out what it rates itself at....and ps....i wish i still had my old toyota....make sure that if your temp. ever gets near the red on your truck u stop and let it cool down.....wasnt paying attention when the water pump went out on a long trip.....needless to say it doesnt exist any more...warped the head, blew the radiator....not a happy day

so you say the w6 is the way to go? I figure if i only run one sub and its its only like 600 watt peak i wont need a 1600 watt amp. Even if i go with the boss, i wont need all that wattage so if they do under rate them then i would be ok. Price wise they sound good because they are double fan cooled and i know if you dont have a cooling system things go south. Ne ways thanks for all your help! This forum is great!

i'd suggest getting either a jbl300.1 or 600.1 amp for your w6 my man. that would power that sucker great and sound good too in my opinion. i'm not one that likes jl at all but i know they are good.
