Best setup for rock?

Ive got a 1991 Integra LS Special. Im looking to spend around 400-600. Ive got an Alpine head unit already, and the front speakers are already taken care of. Im looking to get rear 6X9's, a sub, an amp, and wires.

Should I go:

1- 12" sub?

2- 10" subs?

or

3- 8" Subs?

I want this to be set up for rock, not rap. Also, what should I look at for an AMP? Brand recommendations? Power output needed? What about the 6X9's? And a friend recommended I use 4 guage or bigger wires. What do you think?

6X9 is stock. Theyre both stock speakers- and blown. Blown when i got the car- about a week ago. I dont know whats in the front, but theyre loud, and sound good, so im gonna leave em.

Really depends on how much you have to spend and how much room you have. There's not really a "rock" setup......heck, I had four 12's in my last setup (I listen to rock aswell).

So, how much are you lookin' to spend (on everything)

Ive heard that sealed subs are a pain in the ***, because you have to buy them in the box? It seems two 10"s would be the way to go, but is there anyway to get the sealed sound without sealing them? How big of a difference is it?

Wow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif you were misinformed. Greatlly!!!!!

Any sub can be bought and then placed in to a sealed box. Go slap who ever told you that...

You can,

a.) buy a prefab sealed box that is the required space for the subs you choose.

b.) Have a shop build you one

c.) Build your own sealed box - cheapest and best option.

How do i find out the dimensions for the required box, and what do i make it out of? Whats the easiest to do? Best looking? What EXACTLY is a sealed box? Just a normal box with a lid over it? Does that mean I cant see the sub? Can i make a sealed fiberglass box? How important are the dimensions of said box to be exactly correct?

Thanks guys!

A sealed box does not mean the sub is sealed in the box, it means that the box that holds the speaker is sealed. You cut a hole in the box, mount the sub in the hole, and viola, a sealed box. Any sub you buy should have in the manual or paperwork the sealed volume. you can fiberglass, have fun. and yes, go slap whoever told you you had to buy subs in a box. Good luck

Matt
