Best set of components for $200 or less for Metal/Rock/Techno music??

I'll urge you again, before you buy anything, visit Mark Brooks' shop. He carries Arc (Arc was once Rainbow's U.S. distributor and the ACS components were once made by Rainbow and are still virtually identical to them) and is a big DLS dealer. When I visited his shop, his prices on DLS undercut anything that any online dealer could manage. He's a very honest and knowledgeable guy and is one of the best, if not the best, installers in Miami. All of his gear is top-notch as well.

Before you buy something you don't like, I'd urge you to visit his shop and do some hands-on listening.

I use to have the CDT 61CL series in some well made kicks. I listen to a lot of rock, tech-house, dark house, trance, and some hip-hop. They are very smooth and the tweet is perfect for me. I don't like bright tweets at all. I find I could really crank up the CDT's without causing my ears to bleed. I really liked their warmth and detail and the midbass response was excellent for $130 pair of components.

Components are really tough to pick out with out hearing them. They are much more prone to subjectivity than subs IMO. But I have to give a thumbs up to CDTs.

I whould recommend the A/D/S/ 346cs thats been selling like crazy on ebay. They dropped the price which was originally $500 retail. They are a great set for what your looking for.

The other option i whould recommend if you have the extra money is go with the CDT EF series components and get them thru djdillioon or alteraudio which are both authorized dealers online that will save you more money then others.

I personally run the CDT HD62 set and find them to be perfect for me. They are the best set i have heard.

p.s. I couldnt resist the A/D/S/ deal so i bought a set from the12vkings on ebay !

Currently have a set of CDT CL-61a's I bought a while back for about $130. Am I to assume these would be a noticable step up?

My rear stage is a set of Boston SL60's. Boy those things ****. 110w+80hz=Popcorn. Got them set at 125, and they sound decent for rear fill, thats about it.

i am using the Cl line that is lower series then those fiberglass ones you linked and they sound wonderful. i listen to all kinds of music from hiphop to metal to trance and they are very detailed and natural sounding, again i am using the entry level cdt's so those should sound even better. IMO id go for the FG's

yeah i got the cl coax in my truck and i listen to metal techno and rap, and i love them, well worth the $100 i paid, just wanna give them more power

Man, thanks for all of the great replies, fellas! It looks like I'm either going to go with a set of the CDT EF's or the A/D/S 346 cs sets.

The MB Quart set that I have now is awesome (Q 218.13CX), but I believe that one of my midbass woofers is either blown or is on the verge of blowing. I can hear a distinct rattle/buzzing noise coming from the passenger side speaker, and I definitely don't hear it coming from the driver's side door. That really sucks, too, because they really crank being run from a JL 300/4.

If I get the A/D/S or the CDT EF set, I'll be running those from an oldschool Soundstream 644s 4 channel amp.....if you're looking for a slightly used JL 300/4, I'll have one available for sale soon!

Go to ebay & pick a pair of JL XR's you will not be disapointed. Good speaker & can get at good price.
