best screws to mount sub?

I have used T-nuts and really didn't like them. Don't work the best in MDF in my opinion.

So should i just use some big wood screws?

Please let me know...i need to mount my subs soon. WIll the wood screws be strong enough? They will be holding up 2 18" hdc3's and the box is double baffled.

i used 1 5/8 drywall screws

1 5/8" COARSE thread drywall screws work fine. i have a stash of the hex head screws that tc sent with thier subs. ive owned 3 tc speakas so i got quite a few.

and no , i am keeping them all.

i have both deck screws and drywall ones. the deck have bigger more spaced out threads. Which ones are better?

if the baffle is thick enough , the coarse thread drywall screws should do fine. ive mounted all my subs using these. or the hex screws. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

i would imagine either will work.

I personally have usually always used the drywall screws, they seem to hold very well.

My two favorites are a Pan head Phillips or the Allan wrench screw that TC uses.

definitely coarse thread drywall screws...grip like no other.

i love flush hex with x-nut. No smaller than 3/16ths(dia.)

difficult locating in coarse threads tho. SO...I'll stick to drywallers.

The thicker drywall wall screws. Coarse thread for sure.

Screws with bugle heads are NOT the best by far. Sheet metal screws are the right screw for the job if you're not using some kind of threaded insert (t-nut, hurricane nut, etc...) with a machine screw. The flat back on the head of the screw spreads the load on the frame of the sub and elimnate the possibility of puckering the mounting hole on the sub or otherwise messing something up.
