I am in the process (just finished the mold) of building a subwoofer enclosure tucked away into my rear quarter panel. Being there is limited space here (1.3cuft internal without port and sub), my intent is to put in a Rli 10"D4 subwoofer and port the enclosure. I will reduce the internal volume when I am finished to 0.85ft per SoundSplinter Mike's recommendation but have concerns over how to finish the port.

The problem is tuning the box: 0.85cuft at 29Hz (SQ) yields a 3"x25", 4x44 or 5x70 Tuning to 34Hz (SQL) it would be 3" x 17", 4x31, or 5x50. My other option would be a slot or squarish port. This brings up a couple questions for me:

1) Is the 3" diameter too small, my gut says I need at least a 4"

2) Anyone know a way of turning a corner with a round/pvc style port

3) Does the port have to be on the same plane as the woofer or can I have it shoot out of the enclosure at an angle

4) Or best yet, does anyone have any recommendations for me to look into?

Thanks for the help.
