Best places to apply sound deadener?

if you are really trying to get the best bang for your buck out of one pack the best way is to turn your system up and see what rattles and put strips of it there until it stops

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Better than stupid answers like "where metal resonates" Guess I'll have to play with it.

Actually the guy that posted on large flat pieces was the best answer you got. no need on bends and corners. Anybody that uses the stuff properly will tell u that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif knock on the metal and wher you get the most resonace is a good place to start.

So far, "where metal resonates" is the only reasonable answer in this thread. That's what the product is supposed to do - stop resonance. And where does resonance typically occur? On large, flat panels. 25% coverage on those large, flat panels is adequate if you're using good deadener. Now, "Anywhere it will stick" is a stupid answer.

Another good use for it is using it as a barrier between panels that rattle. If you're using it that way, listening for rattles with the bass cranked (sweeps on repeat are a good way to find rattles), and then applying deadener between those panels is another good way to quiet your car down.

Keep in mind that resonance and rattling are two different things.

So do you really have to seal up your whole door, or just do 25% of it in the middle?
I seal up the entire interior door skin to make the door as soundproof as can be. You really want that rear wave isolated from the cabin as much as you possible. But on the interior, I just cover whatever I can reasonably reach with a single layer. I use RAAMmat, so I'll throw on a second layer in the middle of the door panel. After that, applying anything extra makes zero difference.

i have 30 sq feet per door in my car. along with a layer of ensolite on the inner and outer door //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif i would like more though
