best motor?

just get a b16 out of a civic SI , should easily swap in without modification like a h22 or b18 might have , its cheaper than a gsr/type r so you can do some nice interal work or get f/i

no, then you'll just have another pussy *** civic si with an even softer ride

I got an idear, instead of asking this on an audio forum, check out a place like d-series.org, honda-tech.com, homemadeturbo.com or one of the many honda/import websites. READ and see what others are doing, have done and what seems to work. A LOTTTT more exposure over there than here.

Enough raggin' on the civic! I realize there's a lot of 'fast-n-furious' neon green ones with sweet flames, and 4 foot spoilers, but over in ravenna i'll be ****ed if i don't see dodge neons with bodykits, or N/A fuel injected mustangs and camaros with gigantic hood scoops, or 6cyl. base model 80's mustangs with loud *** flowmaster exhausts and boatloads of performance stickers.

As far as hondas go, it depends more on your tuning than the actual lump you start with. It also depends on what kind of driving you want to do. For a daily driver with more balls, you're gonna want an engine with plenty of torque, hp and upgradeability become less of an issue. I'd probably go for a B18C5, or go balls to the wall and pop in a K20.

If you're looking to go more aggressive with your tuning, i think the B18B is a great place to start from. It's a low-torque, high revving engine, tons of parts are available for it, you can get one that needs minimal work for $300 (i just sourced that price 30 seconds ago, in fact) and there's a guy in Missouri running low 10's with stock internals. I'm not aware of any super sweet street driven late model American cars in my area running 10's, let alone with a 1.8 and stock internals. In fact, when i had my 87 GTI with just a built N/A 2.9 in it, the only, and i mean only, car that ever actually kept up with my was an 80's s10, and i should've seen that one coming //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You need to go to the track more. I would put that at least for every 5 10sec american cars, there is 1 10sec street car. AT LEAST.

However, I say an LS1 swap.
