Best mix of SQ and SPL?

I'm in a pickle.

I have been reading up on Type-X for awhile now and, as a VERY satisfied prior Type-R owner, I'd think Type-X would be great for me. However I have heard numerous reports from people saying Type-X isn't that good etc.

I listen to Drum & Bass and Techno. Above all I want the heart-stopping bass I have grown to love, however I do want SQ as well. I had 2 Type-Rs both getting 500w RMS and I liked it. Would Type-X be a nice upgrade for me (giving them each 1000w RMS) or should I look for something else?

W7 is out of my price range and I have been afraid to try other 1000w RMS subs as I haven't heard many reviews on them. Do you think I would be happy with the Type-X? Any suggestions?

Which sub is the best mix of SQ and SPL?

Thank you.

i know this wont help much, but the TC sounds LMS in my opinion is the finest sub for kick drums and extremely fast basslines. i also own a RL-p and a w6v2, all sealed. all are great sq drivers, but the LMS hit every note much clearer.

LMT is great, but not too sure if it will have the SPL you're looking for. also, the enclosure size is quite inefficient. the Eclipse SW8000/8200 would be the cheapest LMT out so far.

tc-2000

type X is no good.

your best off using the type R but in a different enclosure
WTF??? Type X isnt good??? Type Xs are praised for their powerfull low end and decent over all SQ....Not the best, but FAR from no good....You seem to be giving a lot of TC "information" with no real facts to back it up (IE 150 sealed TC-3000)
Most setups have witnessed a loss of SPL with the type-x, as it is geered more towards SQ. The type R will get louder with the right power and box....the Type X will sound better...Its a trade off....

Yeah in order to monster those lows and have the superior cone structre to maintain SQ at a 1000 watt level costs about 2db in eficciency. At 1000RMS the Type X would kill a Type-R. Especially in 2.0 cubes. Smaller box is a key thing that i think aloft of people dont realize what makes it necesarry for us to have subs like the X and w7 and LMT technology. (myself included) haha

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

To clarify, I had 1000w RMS going to 2 Type-Rs and it was loud and good, but I want louder and better. I'm assuming 2 Type-Xs (giving each 1000w RMS) would be louder...am I right on that assumption?

The drum & bass I listen to is not very fast bmp, it's more of Pendulum and Evol Intent - so think deep bass like rap music. However there are a lot of highs in the music that got muffled with the Type-Rs. Do you think I would be happy with 2 Type-Xs?

What about 4 Type-Rs each getting 500w RMS?

Thank you

imho to have the a good mix of sq and spl..its all in the install not in the sub

as far as a good sounding sub...the above mentioned is good

but u guys 4get that dd and audioque makes good sounding subs as well
