Best Midbass speakers

It is actually good to have a amp that puts out more power than what your speakers are rated at, especially if you are going with a budget amp. You don't want to run a amp at full gain anyways. Most amps clip at or alittle before half gain anyways. Running a bigger amp than what you need and turning the gain down alows it to run cool and puts out a nice clean signal. I scoped my mb quart amp before I hooked it up to my morels and it didn't quite make it to half gain before clipping the signal and that was with no bass boost or anything. Polks are ok, we put a set in my buddies s-10 and they sound descent just dont pick up alot of detail like my morels do. I hear so much stuff in my speakers that his polk db's don't.If you are looking for coaxials both Hertz and Morel make some very nice ones that get good reviews, but depending how much you like music and how comfortable you feel with your install skills componets are a worthwhile upgrade from coaxials.
Simply not true. An amp can clip well before or well after 1/2 gain. All of them are different. Headroom is a good thing, but only if its unclipped. Also a clipped/unclipped signal with bass boost is a moot point. You should NEVER use bass boost on an amp or on the headunit ever.

are you a philosophy teacher?
No. Simply irritated with ignorant advice.

Someone looking for a flat response and a $300 budget with SQ as their goal would be looking at a different set of speakers than someone looking for harsh aluminum dome tweeters and no midbass for only rap music with a $150 budget. Each set of requirements yields a different set of answers. Even then there is no best. Its what ever sounds good to the buyer. There is no way with all the speakers, installs, different tastes in music that anyone in this thread could accurately advise the OP on what would be best for him.

um , so what did i say that is not true?

Do you read anything? (Refer to my sig). I figured you would have been able to figure that out based on my response to what I quoted from you.

That is all you disagree with then? This has been my experience with every amp I have tuned . Granted I haven't tuned a super expensive amp, but the op is going to pick up a zed or audison on his budget.

I think Massive Audio CK6 are regarded as one of the best speakers for bass. Stage III had problems with tweeter attenuation, but Stage V is coming out right now, supposedly with better crossover. The price will be over $200 though. For under $200, look at Morel Maximos or Polk Audio MM.

Another thing you should look as is buying a subwoofer with better integration with midbass. This makes a huge difference. Look for low-inductance, low distortion designs like Peerless XXLS (somewhat too little xmax headroom for my taste), Infinity Kappa, or Image Dynamics IDQV3 (not low inductance, but reportedly very good).

I knew that it wasn't possible for someone to pick out what speakers I would enjoy the most, since no one here knows me personally and everyone's definition of 'good sounding' is different, I just wanted some opinions on good speakers since I know nothing about car audio lol.

If i did buy the polk db651's that i mentioned earlier and bought an amp with around 100w/channel they'll be fine and not over powered?

I'm also not looking for like the best possible system that money can buy, I know realize that I had horrible word choice in my first post and it was sort of misleading. I just want something that'll sound better than the stock speakers I have in my 02 maxima (the front's distort at around 16ish on the volume with my alpine cda105 which is not loud at all)

So far I have decided on this setup:

Headunit: Alpine CDA-105

Front Speakers: Polk db651

Rear Speakers: Stock 6.5"

Amp: Alpine MRP-F300

Sub: Not sure yet

It's Not subjective..when the music is reproduced as the original production that is the best sounding..

People like coloration it's not better or best it's just a preference..

The best sounding driver is simply that the best..
Except there are tons of speakers that can do that. You cant have 20 best speakers. Therefore it is subjective. No matter how you chalk it up youre wrong.

I'd go with Polk MMs, Massive Audio CK6, Hybrid Audio (Imagine, Clarus), or something in that class if I was shopping. It just seems silly to spend money on JLs top of the line subwoofer, but Polk's bargain component speakers, however they good they are.. But maybe it's just me. It just cracks me up sometimes when I see in people's signatures a one thousand dollar subwoofer setup mated with walmart-grade speakers up front. The frequency range covered by most subwoofers is amazingly narrow, the rest should be played by the front speakers.

Lulz He hasn't decided on a sub yet.....I did that....
