I run Excell and Quickbooks,office etc

Looking at Asus and Toshiba but honestly IDK as long as the

piece lasts a long time and dont crash on me and loose all my shit

My Compaq I have 4 years,no issues but I know its time to dump it before

it dumps me !

Asus or Gateway are your best bet . Go for i5 or i7 proc. everything else should be beyond what you need anyway

I've always liked Dell but I'm not sure they have much for $500...my company forces us all to have IBM Lenevo ThinkPad's which I am not a huge fan of.

I just got a referb HP G71 from Tiger Direct it was in your budget 4 gigs of ram windows 7 64 bit, Core2 duo @ 2.2ghz I use it for the same thing you do and I can only say that it is a fantastic laptop. although it was a "referb" it was absolutely perfect. the speakers ****, but I don't really use them. 17" monitor full keyboard with number keys greatly our weigh the disadvantage of the larger size. looking at spreadsheets is much better on this screen than a 15". I would highly recommend it.

I wont mess with a Dell.....I am really not a Gateway fan either - bloatwear up the arce

and the last gateway I messed with was so slow I had to walk away - Im diggin ASUS and TOSHIBA
