Best FM Modulator

Hi - new to the forum - sure looks like some great info!

I am working on adding an FM Modulator to my car (2004 Jag "S") in order to connect my IPOD to my stereo system.

Does anyone have any good experience and knowledge base on what is the best FM Modulator to use (eg. Scosche, Audivox, etc...)?

Appreciate some good ideas/suggestions - many thanks.

P.S. Not to confuse things but I already have an Alpine 6-CD mp3 changer/player installed in my car that plays through the FM radio/stereo via the built in Alpine FM Modulator - with truly excellent quality.

I wish there was a way to able to switch the audio between the Apline mp3 player and my IPOD - but the wiring seems to be all intergrated. If I had a schematic I'm sure I could devise a switching interface (ie. very handy with electronics)...

Notwithstanding the above, therefore I thought I'd connect a 2nd FM Modulator in the antenna line, in series with the Apline unit - which is why I'm looking for a new/good modulator... Not a "perfect" approach but workable/practical...

Would be thankful for any comments/thoughts on my approach and set up...

Alpine has probably one of the best Ipod supports out there, I don't see why you don't just hook it up the right way.

My wife has that in her car. Might work fine out in the sticks but in town, it's shite. Interference on every available freq.

To be clear I'm talking about an FM modulator that is hard wired into the radio antenna lead. This way the modulated signal is closely coupled into the FM radio with a very strong signal to noise ratio which helps reduce interference from FM radio satations and provides decent audio quality (ie the best FM radio can provide).

By contrast I can't see an "FM Transmitter" (ie. the kind you plug into a 'cigarette ligher' 12 VDC adapter prodiving a good solution.

The units I'm looking at are the Audiovox FMM100 or Clarion FM200... etc.

SethPhilips - appreciate your coments on the Audiovox - and presume you are also referring to the Boss FM-MOD (?) - have you had any experience with the Clarion FM200?

I'd love to be able to connect into the back of my radio using some "Alpine/Ipod" solution but I can't find anything that would do that for the Jaguar radio...

the clarion works good but i have had about 3 go bad, i installed about 20/30

I hated the navigation for Ipod on my 9835. I resorted to using the aux-in instead.
