I am looking for the best budget speakers i can get for my moms car. She wants better sound than the factory bose system in a 02 audi s4. The front are 4" components, however i dound a diy it is fairly easy to put in 5 1/4/ the rears are 6 1/2 coax in the deck. I am going to bypass the factory system/amp all together and run new speaker wires to the hu. the hu is a alpine cda-105 .

So far i found the new mb quart discus series components and mb quart 6 1/2" coax in the rear. for about 100 shipped both sets. or the rockford fosgate prime 5 1/4" components and 6 1/2" . I also found the alpine type s 6 1/2" coax but alpine doesnt have a 5 1/4 type s component. I would be willing to mix and match sets for the best sound. would like speakers with decent midbass, probably not getting a sub. Would prefer a silk tweeter also. I realize my options are slim when just running hu power, is there anything else i should look at? trying to stay under $120 for both.

I don't think it will sound any better than the factory bose system if you're not going to amp them, unless for whatever reason it's sounding like extreme crap somehow.

well both rear speakers are blown however the front components sound decent besides higher volume. anoth component set i just found is the Pioneer TS-A1304C . they look ok , but have never used pioneer. I think with the aftermarket speakers and less midbass she will be more convinced to maybe add a 4 channel amp to run the components and bridge two channels to a small 10" sub to add the lower end back. She is against the subwoofer idea mainly because she hates my 18" solo x and my friends 2 18" btls lol , she relates a sub to that "noise" .

ok i talked with her and she will spend a little more on an amp. Still a small budget , looking for an amp but probably like the alpine mrp-f240? 40rmsx4 . i used to have one and was a good little amp. I have to do back speakers b/c they are blown, there is also 4" speakers in the rear door , but going to do without those. So i am thinking all speakers replaced amp fronts , hu on rear , and other 2 channels of amp on small sub. or just all 4 speakers amped and hope she is ok with the amount of midbass she gets?

just got a 5 channel alpine mrp-f320 . old school v-power amp . does 40rmsx4 and 120 rms to sub . should be perfect for this. i am worried about the mb quart being too harsh with a titanium tweeter, is thre any cheaper set recommended with a silk tweeter?

ok its all ordered and under $300 total. alpine cda 105 hu , alpine mrp-f320 5 channel amp. Mb quart discus 5 1/4 components , mb quart formula 6 1/2 coax. 4 gauge amp kit. tsunami 4 channel rca's, metra dash kit. I didn't bother with the expensive bose wire harness for the hu since all i will need to splice is power, switched, and ground. and with the 5th channel on the amp at 140rms can easily add a sub later on for under $100 and should be plenty of power to just add some low end to the music. i will post some pics of the install when it all arrives.
