Best box wide open cargo van

I have a audiobahn aw1500 15" sub, it's powered by a usa-100. Right now it's pretty loud in the back of a cargo van facing the passenger corner. It's in a 1.6 cu ft sealed box right now. Do you think I would get a significant volume increase if I went to the max recomended ported box 3.5 cu ft? The amp puts out a "rated" 315 watts @ 2 ohm mono. The sub is 800 watts rms. Please keep in mind this is a wide open cargo van Ford E-250.

I'd be looking more at 5 cube to make a 15 loud, especially with so little power.

wow really? I've been building sealed boxes since I was a teeneger...many...many years ago before the internet to make things so much easier. It calls for a 3"x11" port @ 3.5cu ft. Would I be able to just use the same port size if I go with a 5 cu ft box?

So should I just go with a 5 cu ft box with a 3"x11"port, or go with the manufacturer specs at 3.5 cu ft and the same port?

bigger box less power to get loud

If you are trying to get as loud as you can without upgrading I'd go for a bandpass personally. 1:2 ratio and tune to taste

Thanks for all the input. I ended up building a box alittle larger than the specs called for. It's 3.7 cu ft. with (2) 4" x 11.25 ports. It's ALOT louder than the 1.5 cu ft sealed box I had it in. Once again thanks.
