Haha I had no idea. That sort of makes the "open box" amp purchase situation even more frustrating. So it's a brazilian amp?

no pretty sure its a higher end chinese.

brazilians are taramps, sound digital, stetsom, banda, prv, powerus thats all the Brazilian brands. Also a brazilian 3k will be even smaller than your nvx and be super powerful.

No it's not Brazilian, it's Chinese but it has a decent board. It's one of the more welcomed Chinese boards that people use. It makes good power on a small footprint.

So the open box amp I bought at the time was $20 less than the new one. I figured it was just that, an open box... not so much. It was a thrashed used amp. When I was looking to replace it I saw that Sonic had a discount code for the NVX amp (previously not available) for $15, making the new one only $5 more than the "open box" one. I decided to jump on it since it was a good deal for a new amp and didn't want to let the code expire.

da*n it u made me look., they got $20 off the nvx vcw 12 i been wanting., and if u hadn't just had a horrible experience with open box they got some for $129 omg, if they weren't crap or had actual pics of them i'd be all over that..

what about that reg cab 3" coil? last time i asked about it i didn't have the amp for it, now i do, only down side to it i basket, has great reviews 1 even said he had sundown and fi before and cheap cab good.. they all gonna want bigger box than mine anyway so that'll be something i have to do no matter what i get.. $129 3" 1000rms cab, fi alpha $149 600rms 3" coil, and i like the nvx but since i gotta get a box too idk about that..

Don't get caught up on rms. That's a number the company gives their own subs, its not regulated by anyone. So just because CAB says their sub is 1krms, and fi rates their at 600 doesn't necessarily mean the cab can handle more power than the fi. It very well might, but the company rating doesn't mean that it does for sure. Knowing the two companies I would have to lean towards fi and I would bet those sub's take 1k watts all day no problem. So don't get too caught up on what the company sells you.

I don't know that, but it's a possibility. My subs are rated at 600w and I threw over 1k at them for a long time. Now they see rated 600. The difference isn't really audible to me. I'm sure it is to the mic tho.

would also have to factor in compression as well.

saw guy that competes said something like adding 400rms more did nothing, i'm over power my sub too, if box was .2cf bigger could probably go down 300rms and be about the same, to ear anyway..

Got a call from Sonic today. Sounds like they are trying to make it right. They're going to refund the $9 I paid for a return shipping label and refund the money for the open box amp that is being returned.

On another topic, the sub arrived in near-perfect condition. there is one small scuff on the magnet which I assume is how it became b-stock. Dual 4 ohm as I ordered. Thanks CAB.
