Yes sir!! I absolutly agree. If you put that much to them your going to have problems with the crossovers sending the tweeter section into protection.
Also even with 180 and the 560 x-overs you will want to be carefull. make sure you HP them correctly. They wont like 150 per side infinate baffle with a low x-over point. I know this from experience.

The 480 has issues with the tweeter protection like you found. I set it off with anyhting from 45-200 watts per side.

What I meant about the crossover was on the amp. You want your high pass to be anything between 60-120hz.

IMO...

63hz for moderate volume rock

80hz for moderate rap

80hz for loud as funk rock

100hz for loud as funk rap

I have found that 80hz works well at loud volumes and 63hz works well for moderate volume. Just make sure you dont bottom out the mids.
