Best 8'' Sub for my application?

I am looking to do a nice loud setup with some 8'' subs that will not compromise my leg room. I currently have a ported pro box with a kicker l7 10'' in my 05 Silverado Reg. Cab and i lost too much room. I'm thinking about taking advantage of the group buy and getting 6-8 re8's sealed along my back wall. OR maybe i might just do 4 of them and port the box. I also looked at doing two 8W7's ported but their mounting depth is too deep. What about the Soundsplinter 8's i have been hearing about, are they good? Any reccomendations for a loud 8'' setup that will allow me to have my seat back far? If i can't find somethin i like then i will prob. just buy another l7 10'' and put a smaller sealed box behind the seats. Oh BTW: The amp im working with is a MTX 1501d and id like to just use it only if possible. Thanks in advance

Brett

I don't know if the RL-i8 is good for your application. It sounds like you just want to be loud. And The i8 is capable of achieving that, but it's design is more tailored to SQ. They do perform well in very small sealed boxes, IIRC .21ft^3 sealed each. But the depth is almost as deep as the W7.

You would be better off running 4-8 re8's sealed. With the proper power(at least 100 each) it will be very loud:)

Thanks for all of your opinions. So let me ask you this... would 3-4 re8's in a ported box be louder than 6 in a sealed?
Normally 2 sealed = 1 ported. Before everyone jumps on that one, it is subject to many things(install). But a decent rule of thumb to go by when deciding on a daily driver.

I would never run a RE8 sealed personally.

do a search for "the great 8 challenge" its a comparison between several 8's. The crystal comp 8 I suggested came out on top OVERALL. I own a comp 8 and it kicks ***!

Im considering doing two 8'' L7's ported. They only need .66-1.0 cubic feet per sub ported and their mounting depth is only 4.5 inches. Also their RMS rating is 450 watts with a peak of 900. Im sure i could fit two of those ported back there and not lose much room.

And they will probably be loud enough 4 you. That's a good option.
