best 6x8 for the money

have an 05 mustang that has the 6x8 in the front door. Have thought about using an adapter ring to go with 6.5,but dont know how much trouble it will be.

What are a few real good sets of 6x8's?

I would go with making the ring adapter and putting in 6.5s. There are more speakers available and they will sound better anyway. if you do go 6x8 thought. Check out alpine and Boston acoustics. They always have good products. Also whatever you do. Amp it.

thanks for the reply....i WANT to go with the adapter and a 605,but not sure what will fit in the door. I do not want to cut the door panel. I wonder if i would be able to tell much by taking the door panel off now and looking at the clearance?

I have an 06 Saleen...and ran a set of Pioneer REV 6x8's in the doors and they had some really nice sound...does your 05 have the 8" speaker in the lower door as well?

Dave....no,mine is just an 05 with the v6 and just has 6x8's in the doors

with a 6x8" hole you should be able to make a 6.5" round fit fine. Not sure on your clearance though. Measure how much clearence you have from the hole to the window when its down and inside the door. also measure how much room you have (or guestimate) from the hole to the inside of the door pannel. Make an adapter to fit. It is what I did with my doors. I got The CDTs ES-06 in my door. And that is a big driver.
