Best 6.5" components

What are the best 6.5"/ 1" components for around $300? My amp is 50x2 wRMS @4ohms.

you can get a great set of 6.5's for half that price. the cdt cl-61 at thezeb.com for $150. since you are giving 50 watts rms they will sound great even with up close too 100 watts rms. they will preform just as well in my opinion as a $300 set. if you really want to spend $300 look at cdt's euro (not sure if that is the correct name). but if you only have 50 wattsrms going to them it wouldn't make since to go that high end.

So how do the cdt's compare to the focals you listened to?

I'm searching for some components and wasn't too impressed by the focals or MB quarts in the $300 price range, was impressed with the ones out of my price range.

thezeb.com is very reliable one of the best places i have ever dealt with. i have never really listened to focal i heard some mb quart but i really like my cdt cl-51's so i imagine the cl-61's would be as good

Oh, I haven't actually had a chance to listen to them either, but from what I hear they are the best and the focals are a close second. I was reading in a car audio magazine where the focal polyglass 165 v2 components won first place.

Looking into some Diamond Audio, Boston Acoustic, or Focal components. Everyone I know that has heard/bought CDT was very disappointed in them. Plus from what I have heard I prefer Boston Acoustic or Diamond Audio out of any others.

For $49 and change more I doubt that you will find a set that digs into the music more than the Koda's.

These things have incredible midbass response, and a very warm overall sound.

May want to look into the koda's or possibly into constructing your own set. Vifa PL's get down and dirty too.

May want to browse around http://www.madisound.com and http://www.partsexpress.com and see if anything there is to your liking.

If you want to build your own set, the LPG 25 NFA & Peerless HDS combo are really good, seen people using this setup in competitions. You could get a custom passive xover from madisound for them.

The Scanspeak revelators mids are even better but they are really expensive.
