been out of the game for a while, quick suggestions needed

well i have an old alpine m450 (400 watts at 2 ohm) pushing a 12w6v2 but it suddenly blew (or at least the foam surround is completely not connected to the actual speaker part, if that makes any sense). i've had it for almost 4 years and quite frankly im not even mad seeing as how i bought the sub used anyways. but now i cannot stand driving around without at least a little bump. so is there anything i can do with this sub as far as getting it reconed? or is it trash?

doing a brisk search for a sub wanting around 400 rms i came across the new 8" alpine type r. im not looking to spend over $150 for the sub and would rather just put a simple 12" in the 1.25 cu. ft box i already have from the 12w6v2. i also made a ported box for it according to jl specs so all that is just laying around. would a 12" compvr suffice? i listen to everything from country to rap. if i do end up having to make a new box i wouldn't mind trying to make an 8" type r sound really good if possible. thanks for any suggestions folks

You can contact JL to get a recone, Check on a SSA DCON or see if a custom builder(there is one that is on here alot) can do with it.

JL wants $185 for a recone/replacement of all moving parts. any other suggestions? i checked out the SSA DCON. how would that compare given the same ~400 watts

What do you want the subwoofer system to do? Whats your music preference? Whats the year, make and model of vehicle?

want loud, but smooth bass. listen to everything from country to rap. in a 99 prelude. i have a 1.25 cu ft sealed box and 1.50 cu ft ported box both to jl specs for the 12w6v2. looking at either the $125 DCON or if it's worth the extra $60 to just go ahead and revamp the w6v2.
