I came across quite a find today...i got 2 12 inch rockford hx2 subs and a hifonics hercules 1500 watt mono amp today for 50 dollars!

Thing is one of the subs the guy knew was blown the other one he claimed to the very end it worked but when we were testing it i got nothing...

I have no idea whats wrong with either sub but it seems to be the same kind of issue the cone seems to be okay like it doesnt just drop down has some spring in it still...

You hook the sub up and just absolutely nothing happens any ideas? is this sub possible for repairs maybe if even sent to rockford? would it be worth doing ive read these are pretty beastly subs? never heard em it seems pretty hefty

Thanks for any insight

there isnt anything to send pictures of .......

Power or Punch? What do the coils read with a DMM on them?
Power and i have not a clue i dont have any tools other than a multimeter which i cant even figure out how to use the thing properly..ugh idk if it works right honestly it was very cheap

Turn the DMM to read ohms and put the black lead on the negative of the sub and the red lead on the positive of the sub.
yeh ive played with it the numbers dont seem to be right at all..it confuses me honestly..but i dont need the sub hooked to any power source?

Polarity isn't necessary. Resistance will display the same either way. Find someone with an accurate meter though. Odds are that coils are bad if sub will not do anything. All soft parts/coil can be Reconed by many people on this forum and likely fixmyspeaker.com.

hey thanks guys...how much do you think the repairs would cost it would be cool to see these subs in action the reviews ive read these seem comparable or better than the T series..people compare them to the HCCA and W7s and stuff idk how true it is..

i will post some pics later this evening when i get home from work

PM SPL audio... he will rebuild them into beast for a great price!

Probably need recones.... looking at $100+ per sub most likely. No idea if they're worth reconing..but if they are, still pretty decent deal if you have to spend $250 reconing them. $300 for 2 subs and a decent 1500 watt amp is pretty good.
