**Beefy subs with huge motors**

To all those asking what the big sub was with the quad-stack motor, huge basket, and tall surround; It is a Soundsplinter Rl-s. It's a TC basket as well, I believe (I think the same as the 3000). The Lightning sub eveyone thinks the backet is from was built by TC.

It is a fairly well known fact about the LA being built by tc:) But that is not a quad stack motor in the original picture...

nor is it the rl-s cone. actually, the picture's name gives it away:) it is a prototype built by Matt Zamora. likely using this motor here-

which is a modded 3hp motor with an extra 1/2 inch of magnet (2.75) and the gap machined out to fit a bigger (more) coil. (gap od 3.445)

EDIT: not the above mentioned motors. looking at it- its a standard tc3hp, doesnt even look like qca.

Oops, me=pwnt. I just glanced at it when the question was raised by BMX bikes. I thought it was a quad-stack. And I figured a couple of these guys at least should know about the LA being built by TC. Which is why I was surprised when they kept referring to the basket as a "Lightning" basket.

As for the cone, I couldnt' tell very well because of the angle of the shot and the shadows. I could only see for sure that it had a silver dustcap.

It is a "lightning" basket, the same as the 52/5400 basket is a "Eclipse" or "TI" basket is what it is.. they were originally designed for LA (or eclipse, respectively) Now it seems tc is the exclusive user of both of these designs, but it seems to be easier to refer to them as such:)

I like how the magnet with the boot on it won't fit into the cutout. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I thought about getting those new baskets for my 9510f's, but they look so weak. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I'm not even sure if they would fit in my box. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

The 9510f's are already a tight fit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
