Compared to an SX, the avalanche is louder off a hifonics BX1000d in a 2.2 cube ported box in a camry. Now...when the SX is in a sentra (smaller car) off a dei1100d and the avalanche is in the camry with a tsunami 1000d, the SX is noticeably louder....but the sq goes hands down to the avalanche.

The ava is a BEAUTIFUL sounding driver, not quite as loud as the SX, but would be my choice without a doubt if I were to buy again.

Well AA Avalanche 15 vs. RE SE 15
When I had the AA Avalanche 15 SEALED in 2.2 cubes, and the RE SE 15 PORTED to 33 hz in 4.2 cubes,

the difference in output JUST BARELY went to the RE SE,

however the SQ and a smoother rolloff in how it sounded went to the Avalanche.

wow. cant believe you are even going to compare these two in such a vastly different box setup.

2.2 sealed compared to a 4.2ported?

now put ur ava15 in that 4.2 ported box and compare it to the SE, thennn come back and tell how close it was.

He was pointing out the fact that in a sealed box, the avalanche was nearly as loud as the SE in a ported box. Standard theory is that you get about a 3dB gain going ported...so if you have the situation he did, you're talking about a sufficiently louder driver with pretty good certainty.

He was just comparing the setups that he had and could honestly report on. The conclusion drawn from his comments: The avalanche is a superior driver to the SE line...and you have to respect that he didn't compare with speculation on the other lines like many do without hearing them.

If you would like the comparison of it to an SX, read above. One comment has to be added to the SX and ava comparison though...the subs are now both in 3.1 cube boxes...not the 2.2 that was used in the initial comparion in the camry. That was just done because it was the box for my 15A, and I didn't have new boxes built at the time the subs arrived.

but i WILL put two ava 15s into 7-8 cubes tuned to 26-28 soon for you all!

and i'll compare that to what i've heard on that scale (brahma 15, 2x mag 12's, xxx18, 2x sexxx 12's, other random craps, all ported)

hmm i think i have officially been bitten by the car audio bug...cuz i have yet to install my RE SX 15 and i already want to upgrade...lol the same goes for my PA P1250D...and my HU which has no problems whatsoever...
