Beat Making

Brock never ceases to amaze me...I'm lovin' them drums on that lighttravelsidea one.

I still remember that first ones I heard...the one like "don't have faith in me" & the one with "I miss you". I cried when I heard "I miss you".

^^ no offense, but that sucks.
from a 23 year old guy who has the word '*****' in his avatar, trust me, there is none taken //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

wow, i didnt know it was like that! haha. but on a serious note, i'm finally getting around to working in the real studio to get some shit done. finally have most of the stuff written and laid out with all the extra musicians, etc. you might hear the final versions of those tracks sometime soon.

Brock, can i send you this new beat i made.. i think its my best yet.. i was wondering if u could make a "tag" for me.. like say something like "yo this is brock/the brocktologist representin' and i'm chillen with your boy .. peep game!" or something like that.. i dont wanna post my beat bare cuz its so fresh to me, i don't wanna anyone to try to copy it or save it to their computer without having my own tag on it.. plus, i think it'll give it a little "professional factor".. and when my friends hear it i can say yea thats the homie brock from kentucky check out his beats.. and then theyll checc yours out and be like daamn you fuccing with some real producers arent you?? then i'll be pop my collar and be like ohhh yeaaa.. HAHA.. anyway, can you do that for me? PM me if so and ill post a link to the song and suggest what id like to be said. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif i dont have a mic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

well i couldnt give you the actual quote, but its the whole studio setup that they sell. Its not his anyways, he goes to school at Full Sail, and the place he interns uses the setup. My brother is wayy to broke to buy that himself.

Edit:

D_Control_Music.jpg

Sorry for Jacking the thread, but this is a pro tools setup like the one my brother uses. every thing is recorded on to the integrated computer, and processed and edited using protools. I wish i could give details, but i really dont know much beyond that. Ive seen him work, but its not his, so i dont have the option of messing around with it when its not being used.

now ill stop jacking the thread.
We have that same setup here where I work.

lol, yeah sure why not

^ Can't do it. Alternatives:

1. Use a vocal dropper = all it does is drop the [imaginary] center channel of a stereo recording & maybe add some bass back in. This works because main vocals are usually panned 50% left, 50% right (aka, in the center) so it drops the center channel. Thing is, other instruments in the center (commonly drums & bass guitar) are cut out too & it messes the whole stereo image up.

2. If you have the vocal track all by itself, you could do some wave editing by subtracting the vocal wave from the vocal & beat wave file, leaving just the beat. I remember I did something like this when this guy put out a track with one of my guy's beats on it. I did this procedure on the chorus (where he had a girl singing), my guy made an updated beat, I put the girl's voice back in there & he dissed the guy who got his beat. Worked kind of okay, as you could still hear some of the beat in the vocal-chorus track. It was mainly the reverberation of the beat that got "into" the vocal track when they recorded the girls' voice.

3. If you're just looking for an instrumental, either grab the real instrumental or you could just loop parts of the real song where there's no talking to make it seem like it's an instrumental.

None of the alternatives work good in my opinion.
