Anywhere a mouse can fit so can a bat 1/2 inch holes. Yes here it is also illegal to kill a bat, call a person who deals with them. Google people in the area. The droppings and ***** will rot through the attic if left to long.

Ya your going to need your attic cleaned. Bats are dirty and just poop like crazy and u don't want that in your house. If you really have 1000 bats your going to need major cleaning $$$$

They're protected/endangered up my way too. I'd call the city/state and ask before doing anything. They might have grants to build new habitats and try to move them out.

On the bright side, their **** is really choice fertilizer for folks who do indoor grows. You can sell that stuff for bank.

As for the bats, jut put a tarp down on the floor of your attic, so they don't rot your ceiling. If they stay, they'll control the mosquito population and you won't have to pay for their expensive removal!
